The Discovery orbiter has blasted away from the Kennedy Space Center - on a hot and sunny US Independence Day.

I saw the launch on HDnet and it was amazing to see. I think the second most amazing thing to see, besides the launch, was the view from under the shuttle. As the shuttle flipped over and then detached the external fuel tank. Now thats a sight to see. It may be a cliché , but it still has meaning. God Speed.
